Deirdre Caffrey is a senior at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Public Health. She is the Resource Coordinator for the non-profit Health Leads, where she supports a group of volunteers to connect Johns Hopkins Hospital patients to resources and social services in the community. She spent the past two summers directing a research study in Peru, which involved evaluating the functional adaptation that occurs at very high altitude where oxygen concentration is extremely low. Deirdre is most interested in working with underserved populations, both in the United States and abroad. Upon graduation, Deirdre plans to spend several years exploring public health opportunities before entering medical school to better integrate her interests in public health with her future career as a physician.
