Nyadia Griffith is currently enrolled in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She dreams of the possibility of being a Chief Executive Officer in a medical institution where she helps eliminate health disparities. So many of our diverse communities, particularly African-American communities, are mistrusting of the medical profession. She plans to help rebuild that trust and show them there is someone who looks like them fighting for their health and well-being. Nyadia describes herself as a compassionate and motivated individual with the mind of a leader, the hands of a community servant, and a friendly voice ready to communicate clearly, appropriately, and confidentially. A fellow classmate shared the following quote, and Nyadia now uses this mantra as a guiding principal to keep her focused: “People don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care.”
